Healthcode’s story began more than 20 years ago when we launched a Clearing Service to make invoicing more efficient and secure in the private healthcare sector. Over time, we’ve become a force for technological progress, always looking for a better way to approach the big challenges facing healthcare businesses.

Our innovative online solutions provide secure, lightning-fast alternatives for time-consuming admin tasks like checking a patient’s insurance status, pre-authorisation and collecting shortfalls. What’s more, we champion change, interoperability and common data standards so that everyone can benefit from these improved ways of working.

In fact, we’ve always believed that technology can bring businesses together for the common good. For example, more than 43,000 practitioners are now registered on The PPR, our central information hub for the private healthcare sector. As well as being a secure place for practitioners to store essential practice details, The PPR connects practitioners, hospitals and insurers to support accurate information sharing, accuracy and transparency.

This has been a trailblazing year as we:

  • Launched ICE, our integrated channel exchange which can power real-time appointment booking for the private healthcare sector. It enables anyone offering healthcare services to share them online with anyone looking for them.
  • Opened up our Online Payments service to even more hospitals, practitioners, practices and clinics so they had an efficient, secure and convenient way to invoice self-pay patients.
  • Processed a record 10.2million invoices on behalf of healthcare providers, bringing in revenue of more than £4.5bn in 2023.
  • Maintained our high standards of service and reliability, adding a LiveChat feature to the ways customers can get in touch, as well as achieving excellent customer ratings on Google and Trustpilot and system up-time of more than 99%.
  • Presented our data about market activity and expert analysis to more industry events, and contributed to other market reports.

For years, the sector has been held back by a booking process that was labour-intensive, prone to inaccuracy and most importantly didn’t meet the expectations of patients.
