Kingsley Healthcare

A HealthInvestor winner in our 25th anniversary year!

We are thrilled to have won the prestigious Residential Elderly Care Provider of the Year (Large Group) award in our 25th anniversary year.

Kingsley Healthcare CEO Daya Thayan described the award as a “fantastic achievement and a fitting tribute to our amazing staff who care passionately about making a difference to the lives of the people they care for.”

Meanwhile, Kingsley co-founder Sumi Thayan added: “This is an amazing recognition for all that we do for our wonderful residents in our homes, and we are incredibly proud of the hard work by our colleagues.”

Judges were impressed by the quality of living environment in Kingsley’s homes and the company’s ability to maintain its values and community approach while growing at speed.

Our award submission focused on our vision of developing a pipeline of outstanding care facilities that will be huge assets to local communities with a focus on luxury, comfort, state-of-the-art facilities and resident wellbeing.

King’s Court, in north Norfolk, opened at the turn of the year while Sycamore Heights, in Bedford, Olney Meadows, in Buckinghamshire and Eversley Lodge, on the Norfolk coast, will follow later this year.

Our new homes embody our drive towards the highest luxury hotel standards with a great choice of features, including bespoke fitted furniture, private gardens, patios and terraces. The rich variety of amenities include private dining rooms, sun rooms, cinema rooms, libraries and hair and therapy salons.

Our design team involves leading companies such as architects Condy Lofthouse, interior designers Homesmiths, landscaping designers The Environment Partnership and even specialist lighting designers Lighting Design House.

We also highlighted our passion and commitment to person-centred care, wellbeing initiatives and community engagement.

This vision is illustrated by our initiative at Allonsfield House Nursing Home in a rural part of Suffolk where we have developed land into a therapy farm, Allonsfield Farm.

The dual aims have been to provide a wonderful facility for residents, many of whom lived their lives surrounded by farmland, and to strengthen ties with the local community, involving volunteers and schools in the project.

The farm plays a huge role in terms of wellbeing and mental health for our residents. The sensory stimulation helps improve the overall mood of people, in particular those with dementia.

Our submission highlighted our commitment to staff development through the Kingsley Training Academy, Kingsley Aspiring Leaders programme and Chartered Accountancy training scheme.

And it also underlined our commitment to the Real Living Wage and support for staff through the establishment of the Kingsley Foundation, a charity set up to help colleagues facing personal difficulties. This focus on staff welfare led to us being ranked the UK’s No 1 company for work wellbeing in recruiter Indeed’s 2023 Better Work Awards.
